A numerical method for solving the Fredholm integral equation of the first kind and its application to restore the folded radiation spectrum

The restoration of a measured nuclear radiation spectrum involves the solving of an improperly posed Fredholm integral equation of the first kind. This paper proposes an effective method which obtains an optimal vector in a subspace spanned by the Krilov basis and uses it as an approximate solution. Comparison of the approximate solution with the exact solution shows good agreement. The new method shows high efficiency.
