Solid moieties are provided which are individually addressable by using individual or combinations of dyes, including at least one lanthanide dye. The solid moieties may be a bulk solid having individual sites or particles, where each site can provide a unique emission spectrum defining an entity bound to the site. The individually addressable moieties may be used in multiplexed determinations for determining the presence of biopolymers or other mixture of differentiable entities. Different protocols are provided for the determinations.
