Recent developments in early childhood "educare" in New Zealand
摘要:
Most New Zealand under five-year-olds attend some form of early childhood centre, though most provision is of sessional care. The two main services which provide sessional care for three- and four-year-olds are kindergartens and playcentres. Childcare centres include a flexible range of services, not just full day care. Kohanga Reo are Maori language nests which were developed in 1982 in order to preserve Maori language and culture in New Zealand. In 1986 the four early childhood services became integrated under the administration of the Department of Education, although Kohanga Reo are still funded by Maori Affairs.
