The present invention provides a composition comprising ziprasidone useful in the treatment and prevention of psychiatric disorders similar to schizophrenia. In one embodiment, the composition comprises at least one surface stabilizer and nanoparticulate particles comprising ziprasidone. Nanoparticulate particles have an effective average particle size of less than about 2000nm. In another embodiment, upon administration to a patient, bimodal, multimodal, or the composition comprises a modified release composition which delivers a continuous manner ziprasidone. Further, the present invention includes a dosage form containing such compositions, the present invention relates to a method of prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders similar to schizophrenia.
