Dutch company Innolumis, set up by Imtech and Lemnis Lighting to provide sustainable street lighting and a sister company of Peek Traffic, has developed a new, innovative LED-based public lighting product, LUMIS-LED. The patented concept provides substantial savings in power consumption in comparison with ordinary fluorescent light bulbs. Energy savings of up to 30 per cent can be easily achieved without making any concessions to current NSW regulations and LUMIS-LED units are designed to last 20 years without any significant loss of light intensity. The light source and fitting are 'sealed for life,' thus fully resistant to dampness and pests. The new fittings are intended to replace existing light sources and can be installed on existing light masts.
