The present invention provides a lithium secondary battery comprising a cathode; an anode; a separator placed between the cathode and the anode and including a porous substrate and a coating layer formed on at least one surface of the porous substrate; and electrolyte liquid including lithium salt, nonaqueous organic solvent and an additive, wherein the coating layer includes fluorine-based polymer, ceramic or a combination thereof and the additive includes a compound represented by chemical formula 1. Also, the present invention provides a manufacturing method thereof. In chemical formula 1, each substituent is as defined in the specification.
