摘要:

In this chapter, the mentally disturbed teacher whose disordered personality is characterized by an over-riding sense of euphoria is examined. A single case is presented as an example. Euphoria, or the false sense of well-being, of exalted and superior mental or physical state, may possess a person at length without developing delusions that shock those nearby or violently disturb the tenor of the school days. At the same time, the continuing influence of such a teacher is likely to do considerable cumulative harm. If she scorns her colleagues and considers the children trash--"What can one expect, these degenerate days!"--she may manage to maintain discipline but will develop in the children a spirit of hate and a cold lack of sympathy that may undermine their character.
