An optical film manufacturing method, an optical film, a polarizer plate, transfer material, an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a polarized ultraviolet exposure apparatus are provided to manufacture the optical film having superior optical characteristics and film strength with high productivity. An optical film manufacturing method comprises the following steps of: forming a layer made from polymerizable composition including a polymerizable liquid crystal compound and a dichroic polymerization initiator on a surface of an alignment film; aligning molecules of the polymerizable liquid crystal compound of the layer in a first alignment state; and proceeding polymerization of the polymerizable liquid crystal compound by irradiating polarized ultraviolet to the layer, and fixing molecules of the polymerizable liquid crystal compound in a second alignment state to form an optically anisotropic layer. A percentage of the polarized ultraviolet having an extinction ratio ranging from 1 to 8 is less than 15% with respect to an energy density of polarized ultraviolet per unit area(J/cm).
