The group of inventions relates to medical technology, more specifically to a method and a device for treating acute pulmonary insufficiency. Initially, the most intact lung is isolated, with artificial ventilation thereof with an air/oxygen mixture being carried out, and an oxygenated Perftoran solution is introduced into the second lung through an endotracheal tube provided with occlusion cuffs, with the Perftoran subsequently being replaced with an air mixture. After the Perftoran has been removed from the lung, artificial ventilation of said lung with an air/oxygen mixture is carried out. Wave biomechanotherapy of the lower leg and chest muscles is carried out in a biomechanical resonance mode. A mixture of an oxygenated Perftoran solution with medicinal preparations is supplied to the second lung via the endotracheal tube, with the aid of a unit for supplying a fluid breathing mixture, by means of pulses in the form of a solitary wave at a frequency of the biomechanical spectrum, for the purpose of reducing the probability of an inflammatory response of the airways to tracheal intubation, reducing the risk of ischaemic injury to the tracheal mucosa, providing for sufficient oxygenation of the blood in the case of severe forms of hypoxaemia, and enhancing the body's defence against infection. The device comprises equipment for artificial ventilation of the lungs, a unit for supplying a fluid breathing mixture and an endotracheal tube provided with occlusion cuffs.
