Groups of 5 to 9 guineapigs were given a diet supplemented with amounts of ascorbic acid ranging from 0 to 600 mg. per kg. diet. After 3 to 5 weeks blood and tissues were removed from the animals under anaesthesia, and analysed for content of ascorbic acid. A post mortem examination was made for any pathological changes.
