Baterías recargables de aluminio con electrolito sólido polimérico, una propuesta segura para almacenamiento energético accesible
摘要:
This article describes the current state of the art in the development of high energy density, rechargeable and safe aluminium batteries, which at the same time are cheap and easy to manufacture. This is one of Europe's most important scientific and technological challenges in the medium term. Together with lithium, a strong research effort is being done on the application of sodium, calcium, zinc, magnesium and aluminium electrochemistries for energy storage, as all these cations have the advantage of being far more abundant than lithium, and, in the case of aluminium, also far safer to manipulate. Although many aspects of aluminium electrochemistry have been well known for a long time, rechargeable batteries require the use of non-aqueous electrolytes to achieve the metal electrodeposition, what is currently a very active research topic. Being aluminium among the metals which tend to form dendrites during the charge of the battery, rechargeable batteries based on this metal should employ a solid, and not a liquid, electrolyte because of safety reasons. Hence, the development of rechargeable non-aqueous allsolid aluminium batteries, cheap, safe and capable of high energy density, appears as a very attractive objective in the field of energy storage.
