Endobronchial Mucosa-associated Lymphatic Tissue Lymphoma Diagnosed Using the Hot Biopsy Forceps Technique
摘要:
Background. We report the case of a patient diagnosed with endobronchial mucosa-associated lymphatic tissue lymphoma using the hot biopsy forceps technique. Case. A 75-year-old man was diagnosed with prostate cancer based on increased levels of prostate-specific antigen and transurethral prostate biopsy. When screening for distant metastasis, chest computed tomography revealed the presence of a sessile lesion in the carina. The patient was asymptomatic. He had suffered from myocardial infarction 2 years previously and was taking antiplatelet agents as medication. Bronchoscopy was performed to observe and diagnose the endobronchial lesion. Endobronchial biopsy was performed using biopsy forceps. However, we were unable to obtain diagnostic findings. The sessile lesion detected on bronchoscopy was revealed to be a submucosal tumor. Subsequently, we performed diagnostic bronchoscopy using the hot biopsy forceps technique with rapid on-site evaluation, and obtained adequate specimens. Results. Histological and immunohistochemical examinations of specimens obtained by the hot biopsy forceps technique revealed the presence of mucosa-associated lymphatic tissue lymphoma. Conclusion. The hot biopsy forceps technique can be an effective procedure for the definite diagnosis of endobronchial lesions, and overcomes the problem of bleeding associated with the forceps biopsy technique and allows for repeated sample collection while less bleeding.
