The invention relates to a method for detecting allergies. A blood sample is incubated first with an agent acting on cells, preferably Interleukin IL-3, and then with an allergen that binds to those surface structures of basophiles and/or precursor cells of basophiles and/or mast cells to which antibody 97A6 can bind. Said antibody is produced and released by hybridome cells that were deposited according to the Budapest Treaty on 12.02.1997 with the Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH, DSMZ, carrying number DSM ACC 2297. The antibodies bound to the basophiles and/or mast cells and/or precursor cells of basophiles are then quantified.
