摘要:

The article presents an editorial for the June 2004 issue of this periodical. The editorial focuses on the treatment and prevention Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). It is estimated that everyday over 6000 people die and 12000 more are infected with human immunodeficiency virus. Hence, to await the results of pilot projects of AIDS treatment expansion would be courting disaster. In the absence of a cure for HIV/AIDS, treatment activities must strengthen prevention programs serving as motivating and enabling factors for people to be tested and to modify their sexual behavior.
