Houston-Exploration and production provides more than enough challenges for most oil and gas companies. Dealing with noncore business issues such as employee administration only complicates daily operations. Yet for company managers functioning on the premise that human resources, benefits and payroll departments are ef-ficiently taking care of employee mat-ters, new technology is proving to be a real wake-up call. That is because most companies still operate with all types of company data-including HR, benefits and payroll-in very disparate systems. While companies can perform at "accept-able" levels in that mode, increasingly, more companies are leveraging the ben-efits of single integrated systems for employee administration.
