The present invention relates to a novel crystalline form of dapagliflozin and a method for producing the same and its use, and more particularly, to a crystalline form of 2-chloro-5- (β-D-glucopyranose-1-yl) -4′-ethoxydiphenylmethane E and a process for the preparation thereof, as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing a therapeutically effective amount of said crystalline forms and their use in the treatment of type II diabetes.
