A Case of Thymic MALT Lymphoma Removed under Thoracoscopy with a Combined Use of Carbon Dioxide Insufflation
摘要:
A 41-year-old woman who was pointed out having an abnormal shadow on a chest x-ray at a medical checkup and diagnosed with mediastinal tumor by close exploration was referred to our hospital. A chest CT scan revealed a well demarcated tumor with the slightly heterogeneous inner part situating in a wide range of the anterior mediastinum. MRI findings suggested the tumor to be composed of cystic and solid components concomitantly. Since she had been suffered from Sjgren's syndrome, multilocular thymic cyst was suspected. At surgery performed for diagnosis and treatment, we employed thoracoscopic surgery through the bilateral approach to remove the tumor by using carbon dioxide insufflation through the right thoracic cavity. Resultantly it was able to remove the tumor completely via the right lateral approach. The histopathological diagnosis was mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma of the thymus. The patient's postoperative course was uneventful and she was discharged from our hospital four days after the operation.
