A 360 degrees digital shaft rotation display unit is described for application to systems involving stepping motor, optical fringe or gap counting techniques. The unit responds to pulses which either cause or are derived from positive or negative rotation. The display operates in both forward and reverse sense through the 0/360 degrees setting, and provision is made to enable initial settings to be entered manually.
