摘要：
The most highly cited paper that has appeared in The Journal of Nutrition is "AIN-93 Purified Diets for Laboratory Rodents: Final Report of the American Institute of Nutrition Ad Hoc Writing Committee on the Reformulation of the AIN-76 Rodent Diet" (1). This commentary relates some of the reasons for the AIN-93 diets and the arduous process that was involved in arriving at the final critically needed product. Moreover, as we become increasingly aware of the complexity of interactions among nutrients, their metabolites, and human metabolism, the need for a defined diet that should be used in all studies concerned with nutrition and metabolism is paramount.
