The present invention discloses a composition comprising, in that order, (a) a core of a material swelling in water; (b) a resilient, water insoluble, water permeable layer; (c) a layer containing one or more active ingredients; and (d) a layer of a material that becomes water permeable in a predetermined aqueous medium, capable of rupturing upon the expansion of the core. Also disclosed is the use of said composition as a drug.
