PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-disintegratable paper satisfying the whole conditions of water disintegrability strength at break in wet and a feeling in use and to provide a method for producing the water-disintegratable paper. SOLUTION: This wet type water-disintegratable paper comprises a fiber component containing a cellulose-based fiber having >=75 wt.% of pulp and >=2 mm average fiber length and a water-soluble binder and has 10-30 N.mm workload requiring break in wet represented by formula (1): workload (N.mm) = strength at break in wet (N/25 mm) ×elongation at break in wet (mm) [strength at break in wet is a value in the width direction of water- disintegratable paper and elongation at break in wet is a value of water- disintegratable paper with 50 cm length in the width direction].
