Diversity and molecular detection of the Leishmania infantum parasite in sand flies in the municipality of Bom Jesus dos Perd玫es, S茫o Paulo, Brazil
摘要:
To understand the spread of leishmaniasis in the state of S茫o Paulo and the complexity of the parasite/vector/host relationship, studies on the ecological and epidemiological aspects of this disease are necessary. In the municipality of Bom Jesus dos Perd玫es, the sand fly fauna and presence of parasites of the genus Leishmania in these vectors are unknown, and to study these aspects, sand flies were collected using CDC and Shannon traps in 12 locations in three different environments: forest, peri-urban, and urban. Leishmania infantum was identified by PCR using a marker based on the cathepsin L-like gene. 12 species of sand flies in two subtribes were recorded. Molecular analysis identified Leishmania infantum in tree species of sand flies, Migonemyia migonei, Pintomyia fischeri and Martinsmyia alphabetica. The minimum infection rate (MIR) in the female sand flies collected was 3.5%. These results indicated an increased risk of leishmaniasis transmission and underscore the importance of entomological surveillance and supervision of land use and occupation.
