ELECTROCATALYSIS ON TRANSITION METAL-OXIDE FILMS EPITAXIALLY GROWN ON SINGLE CRYSTAL SUBSTRATES
摘要:
The electrocatalysis of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is a critical process in the water-splitting technologies. Intensive research efforts have spent on identifying strategies for controlling the surface oxygen interactions by using, as an example, cationic substitutions, structural engineering, and support interactions. While these efforts have led to successful developments of new electrocatalysts for the OER, most studies have thus far focused on polydisperse materials. The reliance on the polydisperse materials complicates the process of connecting the surface structure with the electrochemical mechanism as one cannot isolate whether the activity trend is due to the presence of different terminations, structural defects, or even other presenting (secondary) phases.
