The projector 100 includes illumination light sources 101 and 102, a dichroic mirror 120, a phase difference plate 103 and a polarization conversion element 150.The illumination light source 101 emits first illumination light of the first polarization when one of the S polarized light and the P polarized light which is linearly polarized light is the first polarization and the other is the second polarization.The illumination light source 102 emits second illumination light.The dichroic mirror 120 has a specific polarization reflecting region 120r and a transmission region 120t.The specific polarization reflection region 120r reflects the first polarization and transmits the second polarized light and the second illumination light.The transmission region 120t transmits first and second illumination light.The phase difference plate 103 converts the linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light.The polarization conversion element 150 transmits one of the first and second polarizers, shifts the other optical axis, and aligns the first and second illumination light to the first polarization or the second polarization.Diagram
