PURPOSE: To enable accurate positioning in the cutting of a diaper by changing the operation of a cutting means to hold a distance between a rim part and a fixed point of an imaged pad within a preset allowable range. CONSTITUTION: A web 15 for a diaper in which absorbing pads 17 are arranged as separated along the length thereof is advanced in the longitudinal direction and a strobolight 20 is provided on a frame within a path. To cut the web 15 laterally between adjacent pads 17, a cutting roller 11 as cutting means is provided on the frame on the downstream side of the strobolight 20. Then, the cutting roller 11 is connected to the strobolight 20 by a strobolight signalization means to compare a distance between rim parts of the pads 17 recorded and imaged by a camera 21 and a target object 29 as fixed point on the frame with a distance within an allowable range. When the distance is outside the range, the operation of the cutting roller 11 is changed by a differential device 41 to hold the subsequent pad 17 at a distance within the range.
