The invention relates to a water-soluble oligosaccharide which is covalently linked to several lanthanide chelates and to one or to reactive groups, through which the entire molecule can be introduced by covalent bonding in biologically interesting compounds. The compounds described in the invention are characterized by the structure Am - B - Cn, where B is an oligosaccharide, cyclic or noncyclic, Am represents an exactly known number of identical groups or different, covalently bonded to B and capable of bind to biologically interesting compounds, Cn represents a plurality of lanthanide chelates, covalently bonded to B, m is an integer between 1 and 6 and n is an integer between 2 and 40.
