This research includes: ( 1) Heritability of the insulin response to an oral glucose tolerance challenge. A gene-environment interaction approach.(2) Associations of the Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 gene ( CPT1A ) with insulin resistance and lipid profile in normal female twins. (3) Associations of the Acetyl-CoA carboxylase 2 gene (ACACB) with insulin resistance and lipid profile in normal female twins. (4) Associations of the Malonyl CoA decarboxylase gene (MLYCD) with insulin resistance and lipid profile in normal female twins. ( 5) Gene-gene interactions in genes of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK)/malonyl-CoA fuel-sensing and signaling network.
