DIFFERENTIAL EXPRESSION OF BCL-6, CD 138/SYNDECAN-1 AND EBV-ENCODED LATENT MEMBRANE PROTEIN-1 IDENTIFIES DISTINCT HISTOGENETIC SUBSETS OF AIDS-RELATED NON-HODGKIN'S LYMPHOMAS.
摘要:
This study was aimed at defining the of the pathologic spectrum of -related (-), including (-SNCCL), -related large noncleaved cell (-LNCCL), -related plasmacytoid (-IBLP), and (-PEL). Forty-six cases of -were investigated for the expression pattern of , specifically expressed by germinal center (GC) B-cells, and CD138/syndecan-1 (), a marker of post-GC . Expression of and segregated two major phenotypic patterns among -: (1) the +/- pattern associated with -SNCCL and -LNCCL; (2) the -/+ pattern associated with -IBLP and -PEL. Among systemic -infected by (EBV), expression of the EBV-encoded () preferentially associated with the -/+ profile. Analysis of nonneoplastic lymph nodes showed that the two phenotypic patterns detected in -correspond to physiologic stages of B-, i.e., GC B-cells (+/-) and preterminally differentiated post-GC B-cells (-/+). Thus, +/- -reflects a GC stage of differentiation, whereas -which are -/+, and + when infected by EBV, derive from B cells that have entered post-GC plasmacell differentiation. These findings are relevant for the and differential diagnosis of -.
