摘要:

Within the field of psychiatry, sleep dysfunction has traditionally been associated as an indicator of psychopathology. Over the past few decades, the understanding of sleep disorders has evolved to incorporate a more dynamic, bidirectional relationship with mood disorders. This chapter traces the progression of the psychiatric community's grasp of sleep dysfunction within the context of mood issues. It includes a focus on depression in relation to primary sleep disorders, such as insomnia, sleep-disordered breathing, narcolepsy, and restless leg syndrome. The chapter ends with considerations for treatment in cases of sleep and mood comorbidities.
