Prenatal exposure to anti tubercular drugs and postnatal effect on growth, development and cognitive ability in rats

The effect of prenatal exposure to antitubercular drugs in therapeutic and double therapeutic doses on postnatal developments was studied in albino rats of Highlights? Prenatal exposure to anti tubercular drugs was assessed in rats. ? Postnatal growth, development and cognitive ability were evaluated. ? Therapeutic dose of isoniazid and rifampin affected postnatal parameters. ? Double therapeutic dose of ethambutol also affected postnatal parameters. ? The study suggests evaluation of potential benefit risk ratio for use in pregnancy.
