The use of polymers ofA) from 30 to 90 wt % of ethylene, B) from 0 to 10 wt % of other &agr;- olefins containing 2 to 12 C- atoms which may also carry halide atoms,< P> C) from 3 to 40 wt % of one or more acrylates or methacrylates, in which the ester radical consists of C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, C.sub.5 - C.sub.18 cycloalkyl, or C. sub.7 -C.sub.18 aralkyl, where the said ester radicals may also carry halide atoms,< P>D) from 7 to 30 wt % of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, and< P>E) from 0 to 10 wt % of other copolymerizable monomer< P>for coating or sealing panes of laminated safety glass.
