The author, a mathematician who is of interest to psychology because of his concept of cybernetics, was an "infant prodigy" whose early schooling was with his father, who finished high school at 11, had his undergraduate degree at 14, and his Ph.D. at 19. In this autobiography of his childhood, youth, and early manhood to the age of 30, the author examines his own development with psychological insight and reveals the self-appraisal of a scholar of his formative period after a quarter century of mature professional work.
