On the distinction between radical chemistry and Gif chemistry

An analysis of the present position of Gif Chemistry in comparison with the recent work of F. Minisci on the oxidation reactions of T-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) shows that the two systems are completely different. The TBHP chemistry should be referred to as TBHP radical chemistry. The use of the word 'Gif' for this aspect of oxidation chemistry is misleading and should be discontinued.
