The use of an ethanolic extract obtained from a species of the genus Scutellaria for the treatment of a patient with RSV. The extract is selected from selected from Scutellaria baicalensis, S. amoena, S. barbata, S. discolour, S. hypercifolia, S. inbica, S. likiangenesis, S. orthocalyx, S. rehderiana, S. scissiliflora and S. viscidula. Other botanical drug substances and/or ingredients may be present and are selected from Lonicera, Forsythia or Rabdosia and may be 2, 3 or 4 herb products. Alternatively, a suspension dosage medicament comprising an ethanolic extract obtained from Scutellaria baicalensis, S. amoena, S. barbata, S. discolour, S. hypercifolia, S. inbica, S. likiangenesis, S. orthocalyx, S. rehderiana, S. scissiliflora and S. viscidula. The suspension dosage medicament may further contain Lonicera, Forsythia as botanicals. Preferably, the extracts are standardised against markers of the active ingredients.
