[Class 2 (iii)] Tetrapyridyl-phthalocyanines are made by reacting tetrazdiazotized tetraminophthalocyanines, which are obtainable by the process described in Specification 529,847, with pyridine. The products are pigment dyes ; their quaternary derivatives, made as described in Specification 522,293, are direct dyes for cotton and other cellulosic derivatives. The preparation of tetrapyridyl-phthalocyanines from copper and cobalt tetra-4-aminophthalcyanines is described in examples.
