An infusion anaesthesia using a mixture of guaifenesin, ketamine and xylazine was evaluated in 20 horses. The duration of anaesthesia was over 1 h. The blood levels of 3 anaesthetics were maintained using a computerized pump system. Cardiorespiratory parameters remained stable under conditions of additional oxygenation. Recovery was uneventful and comparable with recovery after inhalation anaesthesia.
