Hypergammaglobulinmia in Mink initiated by a Cell-free Filtrate

ALEUTIAN disease in mink is a spontaneous, transmissible disease which can be used as a model for studying the pathogenetic mechanisms in certain immunological and connective tissue diseases 2 . Hypergammaglobulinmia is a constant feature of the disease 1,3,5 and the severity of the natural and experimental disease appears to parallel the rise in γ-globulin 2,5 . The histological 5,6 and histochemical 7 changes resemble those of the connective tissue diseases of man. A genetic predisposition 2 as well as a familial occurrence 3 have been demonstrated.
