We have prepared an mAb specific for a component (termed anti-mAb). Anti-shows cell-killing activity that is indistinguishable from the cytolytic activity of . antigen was characterized by western blotting, indicating that antigen is a cell with a molecular weight of 200,000, which is different from the molecular weight of -R. antigen, however, is co-downregulated with the -R when cells sensitive to the cytolytic activity of are incubated with either or anti-. In contrast, antigen on cells insensitive to is not co-downregulated with the -R. We suggest that the cell-killing activity of is mediated by antigen associated with the -R.
