Dermatofibrosarcoma with metastases simulating Hodgkin's Disease and reticulum cell sarcoma
摘要:
The nomenclature and nosologic position of dermatofibroma and its malignant counterpart, dermatofibrosarcoma, are reviewed briefly. The clinical and pathologic features of 2 examples of dermatofibrosarcoma which exhibited metastases are presented. Although metastases are a rare event in dermatofibrosarcoma, the cases cited are even more unusual in that such deposits appeared morphologically indistinguishable from Hodgkin's disease in one and reticulum cell sarcoma in the other. This association, which has not been noted previously, further emphasizes the histogenetic relationship between histiocytic, fibrocytic and primitive reticular elements commonly observed in dermatofibroma and dermatofibrosarcoma. It further signifies the degree of atavism which may be encountered, albeit rarely, in the metastases from such cutaneous lesions.
