Disclosed herein is a process for producing fine metal oxide particles comprising the step of heat-treating an aqueous solution of a metal salt at a temperature of not lower than 200° C. under a pressure of not less than 160 kg/cmfor 1 second to 1 hour so as to bring into the decomposition reaction of said metal salt.
