For manufacturing a substantially instantaneous and uniformly soluble product in water with psyllium powder, the psyllium particles are moistened with an alcoholic solution of at least one polyethylene glycol and polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and the thus coated particles are granulated. The presence of polyvinylpyrrolidone in the coating reduces friability of the granules.
