This chapter documents three successive studies carried out to test the validity of a likeness model derived from relational competence theory. In the first study, the Likeness Continuum Profile (LCP) was administered to high-school and undergraduate students, followed by a comparison between LCP and Likeness Continuum Task (LCT) data. In the second study, the LCT was administered to non-clinical participants. Data were first analyzed together, and then subgroups according to sex, age, and status were selected. In the third study, two different types of clinical subjects were considered with LCT data. Results support applications of this task to functional and dysfunctional participants for therapeutic purposes. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2015 APA, all rights reserved)
