Studies the reactions of hydrogen peroxide or tert-butyl hydroperoxide with cyclooctene and norbornene. Pentafluoroiodosylbenzene as an oxidant which produces the iron radical cation intermediate; Heterolytic cleavage of peroxides in the catalyzed reaction; Use of the fast-reacting pentafluoroiodosylbenzene to produce the oxene in the presence of tert-butyl hydroperoxide.
