Asymmetric Synthesis of(S)-2-Octanol by Immobilized Yeast in Organic Solvent System

Immobilized baker's yeast FD-12 was employed to the asymmetric synthesis of(S)-2-octanol in the different water/organic solvent biphasic systems.The results showed that the maximal tolerance of immobilized FD12 was observed in water/n-dodecane biphasic system with the value of metabolic activity retention being 99.59%.The experimental data also indicated that the reaction was strongly influenced by the organic solvents selected in the biphasic systems.Under the optimal conditions,that is,(15()g) immobilized cells in water/n-dodecane biphasic system with the Vaq/Vorg being 20/5,by adding 200()mmol/L 2-octanone,a yield of 29.59% and an e.e.of 98.81% of(S)-2-octanol were obtained in(96()h.)
