The article focuses on a study which performs a population pharmacokinetic-pharmacodynamic analysis of the S(+)-ketamine analgesic and nonanalgesic effects. In this study, ten men and women are administered with ketamine infusion and the infusion is increased per 15 minute. It discovers that there is a 20% greater elimination clearance of S(+)-ketamine and S(+)-ketamine-norketamine in women which results to higher drug plasma concentrations in men. It concludes that S(+)-ketamine shows sex differences in its pharmacokinetics.
