摘要:

Soil quality includes assessment of a variety of soil properties and processes as they relate to the ability of soil to function effectively as a component of a healthy ecosystem. A comprehensive understanding of the impact of agricultural management practices on soil physical, chemical and biological properties is of paramount importance since they are key indicators and components of soil quality/health. The current article gives an extensive review on the recent studies of these soil key properties as impacted by agricultural practices such as cultivation, crop rotation, fertilization and pesticide application following the presentation of a sound concept of soil quality. Future research on this extremely challenging and important area should be stimulated to sustain and enhance ecosystem productivity, services, and integrity. To face the challenges of the inherent alteration of human and environmental interactions, several scientific questions for future investigations on soil quality/health are presented.
