The Crystal and Molecular Structure of Trinitrato-2,2′-bipyridylmanganese(III): A Complex with Three Distinctly Different Nitrate Ligands
摘要:
The 2,2′-bipyridyl complex of manganese trinitrate, Mn(NO3)3bipy, forms monoclinic crystals, space group P21/c with four molecules in a unit cell with dimensions of a = 7.311(3), b = 18.022(7), c = 11.704(4) , and β = 108.73(3)°. The manganese atom is seven co-ordinate, with approximate pentagonal bipyramidal geometry. The equatorial ligand atoms consist of one nitrogen of the bipyridyl group and four oxygens from two bidentate nitrate groups; the remaining bipyridyl nitrogen and the coordinated oxygen of the unidentate nitrate group are at the apices. This is the first nitrato-complex to be shown by crystallography to possess three distinctly different coordinated nitrate groups. One nitrate group is unidentate with Mn—O = 1.896(8) , one is symmetrical bidentate with Mn—O = 2.236(8) and 2.201(8) and one asymmetric bidentate with Mn—O = 2.112(8) and 2.400(9) .
