The method involves detecting gestures that are formed in front part of a screen surface. The gestures are correlated to predetermined instructional inputs. A manipulation and generation process is performed through a computer support, and medical image data is set in response to the instructional inputs. A data processing unit is integrated with a display device. The instruction inputs are provided with control inputs to display medical image data (14) on a screen section (15). The gestures are detected without making contact with a surface of the screen. An independent claim is also included for a computer program comprising a set of instructions to process and display a medical image data on a display device.
