First, the direct intercalation of amino acids into various layered double hydroxides (Mg–Al, Mn–Al, Ni–Al, Zn–Al, and Zn–Cr LDHs) by coprecipitation has been investigated using phenylalanine (Phe) as a guest amino acid.
