The object of the invention is to devise a system that ensures higher quality of manufacture. One standard of quality for such systems is that the casings can be hermetically sealed, with the interior of the casings being absolutely void of oxygen and water vapor. The invention proposes a system characterized in that the welding chamber (1) can be evacuated and the welding head (2) has at least one electrode that can be moved using a servodrive. The invention makes it possible to carry out service tasks, such as regular replacement of electrodes, in the shortest possible time. Further, the servodrive, due to its short closing times, permits a high clock rate in the production line. Thus, following servicing or maintenance work the welding chamber (1) is sealingly closed and evacuated, this evacuation being done on average in 15 minutes. All atmospheric gases are sucked out and then the welding chamber (1) is filled with inert gas. The system is operationally ready again in the shortest possible time.
